Xinjiang is a region of the People's Republic of China, located in the northwest of the country close to Central Asia. The population of Xinjiang is ethnically diverse , including groups such as the Kazakhs, Krygyz, Mongols and Turkic Uyghurs. These photographs were taken in 1995 along the Silk Road leading to the oasis town of Kashgar, China.
